Live Love Laugh Photos blog bio picture
  • Hi there,

I am Lena Antaramian, an award-winning children and family photographer and owner of Live Love Laugh Photos.

I am a mom to very different but equally amazing twin girls and a wife to a smart and funny man. I love dogs, books and sunny spring days. I love all types of food, desert in particular; cooking it is a different story though. I love bags and believe you can never have too many.

I am a world traveler and after visiting many countries, living in a few and meeting people from all over the place I truly believe that a world is a wonderful place and people at their core are good.

I get teary-eyed when I witness emotional connections and moments – a hug between a mother and a daughter that shows more love that can ever be described with words, pure joy that is a belly laugh of a toddler, happiness on kids and parents faces when they are being silly together. And I feel very privileged to capture and help preserve them for my clients.

I hope that I will get a chance to capture your moments of life, love and laughter!

    Lena

Picture Perfect | Ridgewood NJ award winning children and family photographer

The majority of my family sessions this year were with babies and younger kids – up to 3 years old.  I love these sessions and have a lot to talk about with toddlers and younger kids – I am up-to-speed on all goings-on with Dora, Wonder-Pets and pretty much all Disney princesses thanks to my girls.  But whenever I have sessions with kids who are a bit older I love them just as much.  While they are very different (and not as physically demanding) I adore talking to them about about more grown-up topics such as their friends, boyfriends/girlfriends and just getting to know them better.

Case in point – this family session in Ridgewood.  The girls were super sweet and absolutely hilarious.  They told me me about their school friends and ‘boyfriends’ and how these so-called ‘boyfriends’ ran away whenever the girls were trying to hug them!   I think the whole ‘boyfriend’ bit was news to the Mom.   So when you have a session with me, not only you get beautiful professional lifestyle images of your children and family, but you also may find out things about your kids you did not know before:)

We got a perfect combination of more serious portraits and lifestyle playful and fun images.  The girls had a blast goofing around with their parents, playing with leaves and reading books – I was amazed by the younger one, who is just a bit older than my Mia and Alexa, was able to read – and not just a word or two but really read!  The girls loved pretending to be brides and bridesmaids with beautiful fall leaves bouquets created by their friend, who came to visit during the session and was a great ‘production manager’ for me:)

When I came back for their ordering session one evening, the girls were waiting up for me in their JPs and started to jump up and down with excitement when they saw me – it was so sweet and put a huge smile on my face for the rest of the evening.

This image deserves a special mention because no matter how many times I’ve seen it, it ALWAYS makes me laugh!

My little ballerinas – Part II | Ho-ho-kus Children Photographer

I don’t have any visions of my children becoming world-class ballerinas but when I was researching a ballet school for them (who knew that in a 5 miles radius there were so many choices!) I decided to go with a hard-core Russian ballet school – owned and operated by a former leading ballet dancer from Bolshoi Theater, who defected to the US in the 70s and had performed all over the world.   I figured that even if they were just learning the basics, they would learn them the right way.

This school is known for putting together The Nutcracker performances at a local performing center every December.  So when we were asked if the girls would like to participate as Angels (the only role they could do given that they were just 3.5) I immediately had visions of them dressed up in Angel costumes and looking incredibly cute so of course I could not resist.   Having to take them to additional rehearsals (and therefore adding more stuff to our already-busy weekends) was not great but hearing them talk about they they were going to be Angels and perform like real ballerinas made it all worth it.

The process to have kids perform is a bit odd – we needed to pay extra to have the girls participate in the performances AND we had to buy tickets to watch them perform.  I told Victor that it was a double scam and I would not fall for it next year.  However, as soon as the curtain went up at the first show I knew that we would do it next year and the year after that.  The show exceeded all our expecations.  We went there just to watch our kids look adorable but ended up watching a beautiful production of the Nutcracker -it was really well done!  The girls looked super cute and as soon as Mia saw us sitting in the audience she started to wave at us.  Towards the end of their number she could not contain her excitement any longer and said (right during the performance) – ‘Hello Mama!’.  Afterwards, an email was sent to all parents stating that we should tell our children to refrain from waving and talking as it decreases the level of professionalism the public has come to expect from these performances… was it prompted by us? I guess we’ll never know:)….

Cameras were not allowed during the performances but I was able to get a few image of the girls before and after the show:

After the show – in ‘full makeup’:

This little Angel was more interested in her pretzel rather that a bouquet of flowers from Daddy:

And here is a ‘mandatory’ snapshot of us – proud parents and two little Angels:

Southern France – Part I

I finally had a chance to sit down and edit a few images from our trip to Southern France and Corsica.  The places we visited were so picturesque and we took around 1000 images – majority of which I still need to look through and edit.   We visited a lot of old areas where every single building was so beautiful and colorful and just begged me to be photographed.  Enjoy these and I will be posting more images shortly.

Family session | Ridgewood portrait family photographer

I absolutely love this family – we met 2.5 years ago when we (and they) first moved to Ridgewood and hit it off right away.   We actually met thanks to Ms. Josie and Mia and Alexa:  we were all hanging out at our local pool and the girls started to play with each other’s sand toys so her parents came over and we started chatting. We found out that we were both new to Ridgewood, moved here from the city, our kids were the same age – and the rest is history.   Many lunches, dinners and parties later these guys are some of my ‘oldest’ friends and favorite families in Ridgewood and I am honored and humbled that they come back to me year after year for their family portraits.

This girl may look familiar – one of her images from last year now graces the header of my blog!  I’ve photographed Josie when she was twothree and this session took place on her fourth birthday.  I do see her pretty often but nonetheless it is so interesting for me to see through the images how she changes year after year.  All traces of ‘toddlerhood’ are now gone and she is a hilarious, beautiful and very mature (in my opinion!) girl!

When this family had their first session with me two years ago, they created a beautiful collage of images that is displayed proudly in their home.   Every year they add to it and ‘refresh’ it with new images – it is such a great way to see how their family changes throughout the years!    And whenever I am over, it I gives me so much joy seeing my images on their walls!

And now without further ado here are  few images from their family session that we had Downtown Ridgewood:
